History / Why it is named Il Pirata:
I. Roxas Boulevard on what was going to be a floating platform similar to that of the Chinese restaurant that exists there today. The only difference would be that our platform would be in the shape of an old galleon.

-
Unfortunately after a time consuming journey, we were unable to attain a permit to proceed with the construction of the restaurant. This was partly due to the fact that we could not attain a mayor’s permit and that we could not determine whose jurisdiction the oceanfront site was under.
-
Months later we were presented with the opportunity to construct the restaurant on a site in Eastwood city that was big enough to accommodate Mr. Rossi’s vision of a galleon type Italian restaurant.
II. The name “Il Pirata” spawned from a joke. One day our Italian chef came to work with long hair and a bandana and Mr. Rossi commented that he looked very much like a pirate.

-
After that Mr. Rossi and Chef Tiziano remembered that one specialty in Italy was the way it prepared its seafood and that currently no Italian restaurant really focused or paid close attention to Italian seafood. That is how the theme of the restaurant was originally born.
-
Il Pirata is a restaurant that serves authentic Italian food just like any other Italian restaurant but it offers a greater variety of seafood dishes.
